The Steamboat Springs Police Department has opened a criminal investigation after receiving information about a teacher at Young Tracks Preschool and Day Care Center suspected of physically abusing children at the school. Steamboat Springs Police received a notification from the Routt County Department of Human Services on Thursday and immediately began investigating, according to a media release. SSPD worked with the DHS to complete numerous interviews leading to probable cause for the arrest of Alma Montes, 26, according to police.
