Description
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team has issued a Weather Impact Day for Tuesday for an impactful snow that'll likely make the Tuesday morning commute a real mess.
The 9NEWS Weather Impact Team is forecasting 2-5 inches of snow for most of the Denver area mostly late Monday night and Tuesday morning, with the majority of the snow falling between midnight and 9 a.m.
A few areas south and west of Denver could get six inches or more from this storm.
Monday will be mainly calm in the leadup to the snow, with increasing clouds and a sharp cold front arriving around dusk Monday evening. Highs will be near 40° in Denver.
The snow will arrive from north-to-south along the Interstate 25 corridor, with Fort Collins and Greeley getting snow first between 6-9 p.m. Monday, then the Denver area will see snow likely after 9 p.m. Monday. The heaviest snow will fall after midnight and through Tuesday morning's commute.
Accumulations at this point look to mostly be in the 2-5 inch range by the time the system is out of the area on Tuesday afternoon. This is something to watch closely and the 9NEWS Weather Impact Team will be following the latest updates to this system.
It will also be quite cold for Tuesday, so any snow that falls will stick right away, with temperatures hanging around the mid to upper 20s during the day. There will be some more fresh snow for the mountains too.
As we go into the middle of the week, we are expecting things to moderate once again as temperatures will head back into the mid to upper 30s and there could be another round of snow pushing on Thursday as well, though it looks mostly on the lighter side. However, at this point, next weekend is looking seasonal with temperatures into the upper 30s and low 40s.
