A former Aurora Police Department officer who responded to the 2012 theater shooting has been arrested on child sex assault charges, according to court documents. Michael Hawkins, 55, was arrested earlier this month in Douglas County. He faces seven counts of sex assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and one count of child abuse, according to court records.
