What was first reported as a small spot fire in Jefferson County quickly spread near a heavily populated area in Deer Creek Canyon and forced hundreds of people from their homes overnight Tuesday into Wednesday with little notice. The fire, which is being called the Quarry Fire, has burned more than 200 acres in the area of Deer Creek Canyon Road just west of Grizzly Drive.
