Description
A suspected burglar started a fire inside an Adams County home early Wednesday morning and was later taken to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation, according to a spokesman for the sheriff's office.
Adams County Fire Rescue responded to the home in the 2600 block of West 80th Avenue along with the sheriff's office at 2:20 a.m. According to the fire department, one person was taken to the hospital. The sheriff's office said that person was a suspect in a burglary at the residence and is in their custody.
9NEWS spoke with the homeowner who said that she and her son were inside the home when an intruder broke in and came after them with a knife. She said they barely escaped and said that two dogs died.
