A man riding an electric bicycle was shot and killed Tuesday evening on U.S. 301 in Riverview. Hillsborough County deputies received a call just after 3 p.m. about a possible shooting near U.S. 301 and Balm Riverview Road. They arrived to find 45-year-old Peter Meyer with a gunshot wound to the chest. Meyer was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries. Investigators said the shooting began as a dispute between Meyer and a man in a truck. They're still working to find out what led up to the dispute. The investigation caused major backups for several hours on U.S. 301. Deputies said the shooter remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
