St. Petersburg police identified the teen shot and killed on Wednesday evening as 15-year-old Tomohnd Newkirk. Officers received a call just before 6 p.m. about a person shot in the area of 11850 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street N., the address of the TGM Bay Isle apartment complex. They arrived to find Newkirk with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives worked throughout Wednesday night to canvass the area to find any potential witnesses. "Our detectives are pouring all of their time and effort into this case right now," St. Petersburg Police spokesperson Ashley M. Limardo said.
