Description
A 23-year-old nurse at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is accused of stealing one of his patients' checks and a credit card.
Trenton Duckworth was arrested Saturday night after he allegedly wrote a check to himself for $5,000 while forging his patient, Charles P. Langford's signature, according to an affidavit from the Pinellas County Clerk of Court.
Police said Duckworth also used the patient's credit card for numerous purchases, including gasoline and convenience store purchases, a dog walker, groceries and sports betting.
He is facing 15 related charges, including uttering a check with a forged endorsement, fraudulent use of a credit card and exploitation of a person 65 years or older, according to the arrest report.
Duckworth reportedly admitted to his actions under Miranda. His first appearance in court is scheduled for tomorrow.
Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital released the following statement after Duckworth's arrest:
"Orlando Health’s number one priority is the health and safety of patients, team members and visitors. We take allegations of misconduct seriously and have launched an internal investigation. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement."
