Grocery store fans (you know who you are) — if you're in or near north Pinellas County, you won't have to drive as far to visit "your neighborhood grocery store" Trader Joe's.
A new Trader Joe's location opened on Thursday in Palm Harbor. Located in the Highland Lakes Plaza on U.S. Highway 19 North, the grocery store took over the storefront left vacant by Stein Mart.
Shoppers will be greeted by Hawaiian shirt-wearing crew members as they are ushered into cozy aisles filled with unique foods and drinks "you won't find anywhere else" — think french onion popcorn, garlic gondolas, mini mushroom tartelettes, everything but the bagel cheddar cheese and more. In addition to those unique foods, shoppers can find the usual grocery staples.
And of course, who can forget the economic "Two Buck Chuck" (Charles Shaw) wines sold exclusively at Trader Joe's? While no longer exclusively $2, the still-low price goes along with the reasonable prices the grocery store chain prides itself on.
How big is the parking lot? Trader Joe's is somewhat infamous for having relatively small parking lots at its locations. It adds to the local, neighborhood feel but also causes headaches for some shoppers. Hopefully, the Palm Harbor Trader Joe's location will fare better. Because it's in a shopping plaza, there's quite a bit of parking.
