A man died in a small-engine plane crash Friday night in Citrus County, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed. State troopers, along with Citrus County fire crews, responded to the crash right around 8:00 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 19 (Suncoast Boulevard) and West White Dogwood Drive in Homosassa. As of 10:30 p.m., all southbound lanes in the area are closed as crews are reportedly still on scene. Drivers should seek alternate routes. Details into the crash are limited, but the National Transportation Safety Board identified the aircraft as a Vans RV-12IS. The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration are continuing to investigate.
