After 44 years, the Scorpion rollercoaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is set to shut down after Labor Day this year, park officials said in a news release. Parkgoers will have one last chance to ride the coaster on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, officials said. Since debuting in 1980, "The Scorpion" became a favorite among some parkgoers for its unique design and "offering riders a thrilling experience unlike any other."
