Heavy afternoon downpours caused street flooding Friday afternoon in parts of South Tampa. The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory until 5:45 p.m. that warned of minor flooding in low-lying and other poor drainage areas. At least 2-3 inches of rain fell, and an additional 1-2 inches were possible, according to radar estimates. Tampa police reported both directions of Cypress and Laurel streets at Westshore Boulevard as unpassable because of the amount of water on the roadway. This is located just north of WestShore Plaza.
