A bicyclist was killed after they were involved in a crash with an on-duty Sarasota County Sheriff's deputy's patrol car, the sheriff's office said. It happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of S. Tamiami Trail and Bay Street in Sarasota. Few details about the crash have been released. We do know all north and southbound lanes on S. Tamiami Trail at the Bay Street intersection were closed for hours. According to traffic maps, the road has since reopened. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and find an alternate route if possible.
