A 6-year-old child is recovering in the hospital after getting hit by a car while exiting the school bus, according to a Haines City spokesperson. It happened just after 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Chanler Drive and U.S. 17. Units from the Haines City Fire Department, Polk County Fire Rescue and Polk County Sheriff's Office responded after a caller reported that a child getting off the bus was hit by a vehicle.
