Sarasota County government leaders have issued a scam alert as the familiar fake jury duty phone calls resurface. Detectives with the sheriff's office said scammers pretending as deputies or the clerk of court are calling people and telling them they have missed jury duty. The fraudsters then threaten the person with arrest and tell them they have to pay a fee to avoid that.
