A broad area of low pressure in the northwestern Caribbean is gradually producing disorganized thunderstorm activity as of Saturday. However, this cluster of tropical moisture is forecast to drift northward into the eastern Gulf of Mexico and develop into a tropical depression or even stronger by late this weekend or early next week. The National Hurricane Center is currently giving this system a 90% chance of developing into early next week. At the moment, there is not much as far as organization taking place in that area of the Caribbean, but the latest computer models are suggesting that we could see thunderstorms begin to organize near the Yucatán Peninsula by Sunday afternoon.
