A manatee stranded on a beach in Volusia County, Florida, required a real team effort to hoist it off the sand on Wednesday, July 5.
Two local deputies worked with beach safety officials, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission staff, and members of the County of Volusia Marine Mammal Stranding Team to get the animal safely off the sand.
Bodycam footage released by Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shows a group of at least 12 people using a stretcher to lift the manatee into a vehicle as a crowd of beachgoers watches.
“This manatee was successfully transported to the Sea World Rehabilitation Center,” the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
