A 14-year-old girl is in the hospital after being shot in the leg while riding in the car with her dad Friday night in Tampa, according to a news release. Florida Highway Patrol says around 10:40 p.m. the girl's 37-year-old father was driving his 2017 Volkswagen Jetta westbound on Interstate 4 near Branch Forbes Road when the car was struck by two bullets. It is unknown why the vehicle was hit, but one of the bullets went through the car and hit the girl in the leg, FHP says.
