Description
Images outside the Vicente Corral Moscoso hospital in Cuenca, Ecuador, where two children are under observation following the death of eight children from an indigenous community, victims of leptospirosis.
Benjamin Uwiti, a member of the Mashuim community who lost his nephew to the disease, says he was informed that his son "also had fever (...) and pneumonia," adding that his community was devastated by the children's deaths.
For the Mashuim community, health issues are "very problematic" due to their remoteness. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
