Description
Family and friends from as far away as Peru gathered Saturday morning to say their final goodbyes to 41-year-old Jose Castro, the man killed in the Clearwater Ferry boat crash nearly one week ago.
“He brought so much happiness and for that to be taken away from so many people that are here today — he doesn’t deserve this,” Castro’s niece Angie Todd, said outside the Clearwater funeral home where loved ones were sharing fond memories of Castro.
“We’re gonna miss him terribly. We are destroyed. My mom is destroyed,” Castro’s sister, Sandy Todd, said. “We didn’t deserve for my brother’s life to be taken away like that.”
Castro was killed Sunday night when a private boat collided with the Clearwater Ferry he was riding. 10 other people were injured.
He leaves behind two young daughters, ages 3 and 8. Loved ones said he was devoted to his family and filled every day with joy and music.
“There was not a single day that was without music and his kids and fun. He was really a happy person,” Todd said through tears.
