A major redevelopment project is in motion in the heart of Tampa. City leaders gathered Tuesday morning to announce the launch of a transformational vision plan for the northern edge of Downtown Tampa — an area they say is long overdue for investment and revitalization. The site of the former Army-Navy Surplus Market, located off of N. Tampa Street, is one of four properties now included in a new request for proposal (RFP) released by the city of Tampa and the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). In total, about four acres of land will be redeveloped with a focus on affordable housing, mixed-use space and improved pedestrian connections.
