May 30 on The Story: Portland's dual crises of homelessness and addiction often intersect at a place you might not have expected just a few years ago — county libraries. As library staff reported more and more interactions with people using illicit drugs indoors, Multnomah County reached out to the CDC for an evaluation of the potential health hazard this posed. Now, that CDC report has been released, providing some additional insight into the difficult position in which library workers are placed on a regular basis.
