"I'm not going to sit around and wait for someone else to come get my kid," Dustin Nash said. Photos and videos have gone viral on social after Nash is seen carrying his daughter on his shoulders through flooded waters outside of her school.
Many parts of western Maryland were hit hard Tuesday with heavy rain resulting in flash flooding. Yesterday we reported rescue crews were dispatched to a school in Allegany County for severe flooding. At least 150 students and 50 staff members were taken out of the school via boats.
At one point officials closed down the roads and were redirecting traffic. But not before Nash could hop the fence at his daughter's school and rescue her from the flooding.
"That's the only thought I had was getting my little girl out of there," Nash said.
On Wednesday, the community was dealing with Tuesday's disastrous aftermath.
"It's unbelievable, first time in my lifetime I've ever seen a flood like that," Nash Said.
