Description
All eyes will be on the southern Gulf of Mexico over the next several days as an area of low pressure has formed in the Bay of Campeche. This area of low pressure is being called Invest 91. It may become a named storm throughout the early part of this week. Invest 91 looks to move northward or northeastward toward the Gulf Coast by the middle of this week. It will combine with an abundance of atmospheric moisture already sitting atop the Gulf of Mexico. This will bring rounds of heavy rain to Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi on Wednesday and Thursday. Plus, it may become breezy at times midweek due to this. With easterly winds expected, there will likely be minor coastal flooding midweek for eastward-facing shorelines. Some models indicate that it may strengthen to a weak tropical storm this week but it remains to be seen. Stay tuned for the latest updates as this develops. Overall, this will be a rainmaker for Southeast LA and South MS mid to late week.
