Description
Meteorologist Michelle Morgan has the Friday morning Tropical Storm Fiona update along with a look at another potential system.
The upper pattern not only across the central US, but extended into the Atlantic will determine the future of Tropical Storm Fiona. A strong upper high to the east of Fiona and a break in the ridging off the East Coast is what is still being depicted by models to turn the storm WNW, then NW early next week away from the Gulf. The storm is feeling the effects of dry air and wind shear as the center is exposed and the strongest winds within an area of strong thunderstorms is displaced to the east. Despite this, the convection continues to grow. The next 2 to 3 days should be a gradual motion toward the west, before a turn by Sunday and into Monday near Hispaniola. At the moment, this still appears to not threaten the Gulf.
