Scott Peterson case. The Scott Peterson case involves the 2002 disappearance and murder of Laci Peterson, who was pregnant at the time, from her home in Modesto, California. Scott Peterson, her husband, was convicted of first-degree murder for Laci's death and second-degree murder for the death of their unborn son, Conner. The case gained significant media attention due to the circumstances surrounding Laci's disappearance, the discovery of her and Conner's remains in the San Francisco Bay, and the revelation of Scott's extramarital affair.
