Description
A wildfire that broke out overnight Saturday in Le Rove, around 15 kilometers from the French city of Marseille, forced residents to evacuate. The blaze spread across roughly 100 hectares of woodland but was contained by daybreak, according to the fire service. No injuries were reported.
“When we got up, the whole sky was glowing red,” said Marcel Dalaise, a 71-year-old local resident who fled his home at four in the morning following a knock from the police. "We couldn’t tell exactly where the fire was. It all depends so much on the wind, and we were afraid it might shift." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
