Description
South Koreans are battling a wave of so-called "lovebugs", with swarms of the Plecia nearctica insect blanketing mountain trails, apartment walls, and markets -- leaving behind rotting black remains and a foul stench.
At the summit of Mount Gyeyang in Incheon, hikers voiced their annoyance at the infestation. "It's a problem like a natural disaster," said Ahn So-young, a 29-year-old content creator. "I don’t think there is a solution aside from insect control because if these were to come over from another country, we can’t create a barrier to block them." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
