Description
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has acknowledged that South African athlete Caster Semenya did not have the right to a fair trial. The ECHR condemned Switzerland, but did not decide on the central issue of hormonal treatment imposed on this athlete. Semenya has been fighting for seven years over a set of regulations issued by the World Athletics in 2018 concerning athletes with differences of sex development, she was banned from competition in 2018. At a press conference Caster Semenya said "This is a reminder to leaders that the priorities are the protection of athletes".
