Cachimba, like many of the dogs living in Chichen Itza, is one of the furry guardians of the majestic, sacred Mayan city in southeastern Mexico. Many stray or abandoned dogs arrived at the archaeological site during the COVID pandemic, points out Maria Guadalupe Espinosa, director of the famed tourist site.
