Description
Four rough-toothed dolphins are at their new habitat at Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) after being transferred from Gulf World, which is under investigation for multiple dolphin deaths.
Doris, Kitana, Dagny and Wren, dolphins ranging in age from 5 to 28, will be under observation and evaluation as they adjust to their new environment.
Their former home, Gulf World in Panama City Beach, is currently under investigation by the Florida Department of Agriculture after several dolphins died over seven months, according to reports from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the agriculture department.
Sen. Jay Trumbull, R-Panama City, confirmed the latest death in May in a Facebook post.
"This marks the second in just over a month—and it’s part of a disturbing and unacceptable pattern. These are not isolated incidents—they are signs of failure, and they demand immediate action," Trumbull's post read.
