Description
Safety advocates are continuing to tackle the harrowing numbers: hundreds of Hoosiers are killed in crashes, and thousands more are seriously injured each year.
According to a 2023 report by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, 2023 saw 894 traffic-related fatalities statewide, compared to a higher 985 people killed in 2022. 4,232 Hoosiers were seriously injured in traffic crashes in 2023.
Indianapolis has set an ambitious goal to curb these numbers, aiming to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries by 2035. The Vision Zero Task Force aims to "zero in" on that goal by thinking outside the box by understanding the state's care-centric mentality.
