Description
President Donald Trump said Thursday he has "a disagreement" with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the recognition of a Palestinian state.
Starmer has said the U.K. will formally recognize a Palestinian state this month, potentially within days.
“I have a disgreement with the prime minister on that score," Trump said, adding it's "one of our few disagreement, actually."
Starmer acknowledged that he and Trump discussed the issue at some length during their private talks at some length.
The U.N. General Assembly voted overwhelmingly last week to support a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict and urge Israel to commit to a Palestinian state, a move that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vehemently opposed and that the U.S. was one of the 10 countries to vote against.
The issue is expected to be on the forefront of next week's gathering of world leaders at the United Nations for annual General Assembly.
