For months, immigrants around the country have grown increasingly fearful of immigration hearings. In Portland, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have detained people after hearings and have taken them to a detention facility in Tacoma, Washington. Volunteers and immigration lawyers in Portland are working in unison to prevent immigrants arrested by ICE from being taken out of state.
