Oct. 1 on The Story: Since President Donald Trump declared his intention to send the National Guard into Portland, a broad coalition of state and local leaders have spoken out against the use of military force; hundreds of Portlanders have marched in the streets, and many more have shared idyllic photos and videos of the city online to counter the president's narrative of a "war-ravaged" city all but burned to the ground. Regardless, there are Portlanders who say they're more than happy to see Trump take an interest in the city — up to and including mobilization of Oregon National Guard troops.
