The list of questions is growing after multiple sources tell KING 5 that Bryan Kohberger has accepted the terms of a plea deal in the murders of four University of Idaho students, including one from Skagit County.
Retired King County Superior Court Judge Timothy Bradshaw said there are several reasons a prosecutor might accept such a deal, even in a case as egregious and high-profile as this one.
"One reason is, if you're not convinced you can get a conviction," Bradshaw said, pointing to the uncertainty and emotional toll of a lengthy trial and appeals process.
On Monday, multiple sources confirmed to KING 5 that Kohberger, who is accused of stabbing four college students to death in November 2022, has accepted the terms of a plea deal. The deal removes the death penalty from the table, which prosecutors previously sought, in exchange for life in prison without parole.
