Description
A Mooresville police officer has been released from the hospital after he was struck by a car during a police chase Saturday evening in Morgan County.
According to a release from the Brooklyn Police Department, shortly before 6:30 p.m. April 26, Morgan County sheriff's deputies attempted to pull over a Dodge sports car, which fled at a high speed northbound on State Road 67.
The Mooresville Police Department said the car was originally being chased by police in Monroe County "before eluding their units." Morgan County sheriff's deputies located the car in the town of Paragon, which is when the second chase began.
As the chase approached Brooklyn, a Brooklyn police officer attempted to deploy stop sticks, but the suspect drove into oncoming traffic to avoid the stop sticks, the department said.
The chase, which involved several departments, continued into residential areas.
A Mooresville police officer deploying stop sticks at State Road 67 and Sunset Lane, near Brooklyn, was struck by the suspect car, which drove around the officer's car.
