A would-be burglar is dead after they were shot Sunday afternoon in Martinsville. According to a release from the Martinsville Police Department, around 1:30 p.m. on April 6, officers were called to the 500 block of West Pike Street on a report of an attempted burglary. Police say the homeowner, who was home at the time of the attempted burglary, was armed and shot and killed the suspect. The identities of the homeowner and the suspect are not being released until family has been notified.
