A 52-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly pointing a gun at police and leading officers on a slow-speed chase near Indianapolis International Airport Monday night. According to airport police, officers responded to a report of a vehicle being driven recklessly in the parking lot of Signature Aviation on the east end of the airport property around 10 p.m. March 31. The driver was reportedly trying to ram through a gate to get access to the airport grounds. The first officer to arrive on the scene, told dispatchers an older man was pointing a handgun at him. The officer backed off and gave commands for the man to put the gun down and surrender, but he refused. Other officers arrived on the scene and the man allegedly tried to leave the scene but became engaged in a short standoff with officers on South High School Road at Turner Drive. Police say an officer deployed "less-lethal munitions," which proved to be unsuccessful.
