In Knightstown, people are wondering what's next as their police force is shrinking.
"Honestly, it's scary. This town needs its department," said Chase Howell, who has lived in town for eight years. He says he's worried about the ongoing issues facing the town.
"Hoping we open some eyes out here," Howell said. "I'm hoping that we can get some resolution between the town council, the city clerks, with what they were doing and trying to help maybe get this department back together. Be stronger than ever."
In his resignation letter, Police Chief Frank Beatrice says he no longer sees any benefit to his employment and the added stress.
