Description
While several INDOT trucks have been out all weekend, the department says they weren't able to pretreat with brine, because the rain on Saturday would have washed it away.
"We weren't able to necessarily get that head start like we might in other situations," Natalie Garrett with INDOT said. "We were unfortunately having to be more reactive in that regard."
Once the rain turned into snow, it created a bigger problem.
"Currently on some of the routes, we do have some blowing and drifting snow with the higher winds we were experiencing," Garrett said.
INDOT told 13News they will continue to have crews out Sunday night and will be looking out for areas to treat that quickly freeze.
