Description
The landscape of college athletics is ever-changing, especially following the introduction of NIL in 2021. Athletes are able to financially capitalize on their name, image and likeness. Since this seismic shift took place, NIL has generally been viewed as a negative addition to amateur sports.
For 2020 Indiana Mr. Basketball Anthony Leal, it's been overwhelmingly positive.
This student of the game is just that — a student first. Utilizing the tools he learned by working toward his business degree, Leal saw an opportunity for NIL to benefit him and start a business.
Basketball in Indiana is a religion. You don't need a business degree to know that. For the Bloomington South alum, it's just another day at the office.
"Anthony, like when you watch him play basketball, is a lot of what you see from him as a team member," said Jay Townsend, co-founder and CEO of Motion Sports Inc. "He is selfless. He is relentless. He is prepared."
