Description
Chad Donnell, owner of Motorcells in Noblesville, is the person who installed Van Horn's new charge.
Donnell said he is finding that for certain older hybrid vehicles, a brand-new battery may be unavailable.
That is because suppliers can stop making parts after ten years when a model is out of warranty.
"The dealerships are basically saying you're end of life on your car. So, either trade it or dump it," Donnell said, "The Prius is one that the Toyota has been pretty good about keeping it going, making the parts available."
If a new battery is unavailable, or too expensive for your budget, refurbished batteries are also an option for around $2,000 less.
