Description
A 13-year-old boy from Anderson has been charged as an adult in the murder of 61-year-old Mark Miles.
Miles was stabbed to death on Oct. 3, 2024, in the 900 block of West 12th Street, near Madison Avenue in Anderson.
Police identified Joseph VanNote as the suspect after his mother reported he had suddenly gotten hundreds of dollars.
Prosecutors charged VanNote with murder on Oct. 11, 2024, and he was waived to adult court on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2025. He is being held without bond at the Madison County Jail.
A hearing to set his trial date is scheduled for April 25, 2025. He is being assigned a public defender.
