Description
No injuries were reported after a car drove onto the ice of the White River on Indianapolis' near northwest side early Monday and eventually sank into the river.
Around 6:45 a.m. Jan. 27, IMPD received a call about a car on the ice near Riverside Park in the 2600 block of North White River Parkway East Drive. IMPD and Indiana DNR assessed that no one was in the car, and an Indianapolis Fire Department dive team later made their way out onto the ice to confirm that, dive team commander Bryan Fleck said.
The team attempted to recover the SUV, which began to sink into the river, but the effort was called off due to the river's conditions.
