Description
Indiana Gov. Mike Braun says he wants 5% cuts to the budget of every state agency.
Braun made the announcement before presenting his budget to lawmakers in Indianapolis. He has tasked each of his eight cabinet secretaries with identifying those savings.
“There’s going to be some low-hanging fruit in there, but there’s nothing that’s not going to be looked at,” Braun said. “We’re just at the beginning of it.”
Braun also discussed his plan to slash property taxes in the state. Local government, and schools in particular, rely on property taxes for funding. Braun didn't mince words when asked about schools that would struggle with the tax cuts.
