Description
Indianapolis Fire Department crews are taking advantage of the cold temperatures this week to do some training on the ice.
Firefighters from several IFD stations recently practiced working surface ice rescues.
They urge people to remember no ice is safe ice in Indiana. Firefighters say because of changing temperatures and other factors, going out on the ice is dangerous.
And if you see a person or animal in need of help, call 911. You can throw a rope or life jacket or use a long pole to get to them, but don't go on the ice yourself.
