Description
The Indiana University Police Department has issued a public safety advisory following two separate incidents on the Bloomington campus.
According to IUPD, the first incident occurred on Jan. 8 in the 1400 block of David Baker Avenue. Witnesses reported an unknown man in a white van was taking photos of sorority applicants walking down the sidewalk. IUPD officers eventually located the man later that evening and banned him from all IU property for one year.
Police say the man taking photos had no affiliation with the university.
The second incident reportedly occurred around 7 p.m. on Jan. 11. In that incident, IUPD says a black SUV with an IU sticker on the back was being driven by a man with short brown hair. The man reportedly slowed the SUV down next to a female student and falsely claimed he was with IU ride share services and was giving rides home.
The student did not get in the SUV. IUPD reminds students that ride share services do not begin until Jan. 13.
