Description
A man has died after his car was hit by a train on Indy's east side Saturday evening.
According to IMPD, around 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 21, IMPD officers were called to the 5700 block of East 34th Street, near North Arlington Avenue, after receiving a report from OnStar and Apple Watch about a car crash.
When officers arrived, they found a four-door Audi sedan that had been hit by an oncoming train. The preliminary investigation revealed the man attempted to drive around the railroad crossing bars to beat the train, but the train struck the car and dragged it 75 feet before coming to a stop.
IMPD says the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
