IMPD says an officer-involved shooting has occurred on Indy's west side Thursday afternoon. According to IMPD, just after 2 p.m. on Dec. 19, officers responded to the 300 block of South Warman Avenue, near the intersection of South Warman Avenue and Jackson Street, on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman who had been shot. While officers were rendering aid to the woman, they were given a suspect description and other officers began to search the area for the suspect. Eventually, officers heard shots being fired in the area. They then found a man matching the suspect's description allegedly wielding a machete. Police say at that point an officer-involved shooting occurred. IMPD also says that the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Police say the man later died from his injuries.
